Chapter 3 : From His Concern
The next day, today was officially the start of classes. When Kyle arrived at the classroom, Henry was not there yet. He looked at the empty seat without saying a word.
"Jason, hurry up and save me, I''m about to die," Frank said urgently as he played his game upon seeing him.
"No time, play by yourself," Kyle replied, not bothering to pay attention to him.
In no time, Frank died in the game. He put down his phone and said, "Jason, what''s wrong with you? Aren''t we brothers? Do you know how miserable I just was?"
"If you have nothing to do, go find Lucas."
"I''m just saying, why do both of you dislike me?" Frank couldn''t understand.
Carter, who was listening in front, couldn''t help but laugh. In his mind, he thought, if I were you, I''d dislike you too.
Frank saw Carter laughing in front and poked the person in front of him, "Hey, Carter, what are you laughing at?"
The person turned around and said, "Nothing, I just felt like laughing."
"Let me ask you, are you close with your deskmate?"
"You mean Henry? We''re okay, we were in the same class before."
"I always feel like Henry is hard to approach. Don''t you think he gives off a distant vibe?" Frank was the type to say whatever came to mind.
"You don''t get it. Although Henry doesn''t talk much, he''s actually easy to get along with. Look at me," Carter said, patting his chest.
Kyle listened to their conversation without saying a word. It seemed like in this class, Henry only talked to Carter, and no one else.
After a while, Henry arrived at the classroom. The two were already talking about games and didn''t notice Henry had arrived. Henry stood in the aisle, about to say something, but Kyle spoke first.
"Carter, move aside, Henry needs to get in." Only then did Carter realize Henry had arrived. He quickly stood up to let him in.
"Hey, Henry, why didn''t you tell me you were here? Have you been waiting long?" Carter said, embarrassed.
"No, I just got here," Henry replied, putting down his backpack and taking out the things he needed.
At this moment, Kyle noticed the wound on Henry''s hand, which looked untreated. He frowned, wondering why this person didn''t take care of himself.
Even though it was a small wound, could he just ignore it? Without thinking, he took out a band-aid from his bag and handed it over.
"Take care of the wound on your hand." Henry looked at the band-aid, stunned, and didn''t take it.
Seeing him not move, Kyle directly took his injured hand and put the band-aid on. "Can''t you take care of yourself? You should at least treat your wounds."
This action stunned all three of them. Kyle could clearly feel Henry''s stiffness. After applying the band-aid, he naturally let go of his hand.
The other two found this scene unbelievable. Carter thought, since when did these two get so close? And Henry actually let someone touch him; didn''t he dislike physical contact?
Henry didn''t expect Kyle to do this either. But why didn''t he dislike Kyle''s touch? And why did this person, whom he had barely met, care so much about his insignificant wound?
He turned back and said to Kyle, "Thank you."
Then he turned back to start his homework. Hearing his words, Kyle couldn''t help but smile and said, "You''re welcome. By the way, remember to accept my friend request."
Henry didn''t respond, but Kyle wasn''t upset. He knew the other had heard him.
Frank was stunned by Jason''s actions. When had Jason ever done something like this? He was sure this was the first time. He had to tell Lucas; he couldn''t keep this to himself.
"Classmates, today is the second day of school, and we are starting our formal lessons."
The English teacher, a woman in her 30s, had entered the room.
While the teacher was lecturing, not all the students were paying attention. Some were secretly playing with their phones under the desk.
Frank sent what he had just seen to Lucas, who replied with a disbelieving emoji.
Seeing that Lucas didn''t believe him, Frank immediately replied, "Don''t doubt it, a lot of people saw it. Go check the forum quickly."
Many people in the class had seen Kyle putting a band-aid on Henry. Everyone had thought these two top students didn''t get along, but it turned out not to be the case.
"So this is how the top students interact so warmly?" Under this title, everyone was discussing fervently.
"I''m telling you, if I hadn''t seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn''t believe it. Jason actually put a band-aid on someone."
"There''s photographic evidence, this can''t be faked. It looks so gentle."
"If no one debunks this, I''m going to spread rumors!!"
"They used to be at each other''s throats whenever they met. Who would''ve thought!!"
"I''m just saying, these two look kind of good together!"
"I''m in the same class as them. I thought Henry would shake off Jason''s hand, but he didn''t. Truly a rare sight!"
"Ladies, I''m starting a new thread. I''m shipping Kyle and Henry."
For some reason, what started as a normal discussion thread was getting more and more off track. But there were also some differing opinions.
"I''m just saying, what are you people thinking?"
"Exactly, how can you ship everything! It''s just treating a wound!"
"And Henry always has a cold face, who would like that!"
"Yeah, he acts like someone owes him millions."
This comment immediately sparked a rebuttal, "You''re just jealous. Your grades aren''t as good, and you''re definitely not as handsome as Henry."
"Totally agree with the person above. Some people are just envious."
"If you have the ability, you should get first place in the whole school every time. If not, don''t talk nonsense."
Meanwhile, the shipping thread had grown very tall during their argument, and the two people involved had no idea about it. Kyle didn''t expect that his casual action would be misunderstood by everyone.
"Alright, class, that''s it for today. Let''s dismiss," the English teacher said before leaving.
The classroom instantly became noisy again. At this moment, Lucas from the first group came over, "Jason, you idiot."
Kyle nodded, but Frank wasn''t having it, "Lucas, what did you call me?" He then pounced on Lucas as if he wanted to devour him.
Kyle was used to their bickering and ignored them, focusing instead on the problem in front of him.
Carter, who had been holding back for a whole class, couldn''t help but poke Henry beside him, "Henry, since when did you get so close with Jason?"
Henry, being asked, looked at him, "No."
Although it was just one word, Carter understood what he meant, "Then why does he care about you so much? I thought you two were like water and fire!"
"I don''t know, why do you say that?"
"Look, you always outscore Jason in exams. Everyone bets on the forum whether Jason will surpass you, and then rumors started that you two don''t get along," Carter explained.
"No, I''m not familiar with him," Henry couldn''t understand why everyone thought that. Before yesterday, he hadn''t even seen Kyle in person, so where did the idea of them not getting along come from?
And he couldn''t understand why Kyle had this attitude towards him. They had no relationship at all.
"Oh, I see. I thought you knew each other," Carter said regretfully.
Henry shook his head again to show he really didn''t know him, and Carter didn''t say anything more.
Henry thought about what Kyle had said before class, took out his phone, and saw Kyle''s friend request on QQ. After thinking for a while, he finally accepted it.
He didn''t know why he did it, maybe because Kyle had helped him with the band-aid.
Kyle, who was about to check his phone, saw that Henry had accepted his friend request. He looked at the screen and then at Henry''s back, and couldn''t help but smile.
